Don't know if any of you folks have used POV-Ray very much, but I hope this
interests some of you. Maybe this can be used as fuel for the PPC Linux
movement.

There's a benchmark out there that uses POV-Ray
<http://www.haveland.com/povbench>. You render a standard scene file with
specific options, and you send in how long it took your computer to render
the scene. I'd encourage other YDL and other PPC Linux users to perform this
benchmark, just to show others how slow the x86 chips are (BTW can someone
please forward this e-mail to the LinuxPPC and MkLinux general mailing
lists?).

My G3/400 was faster than a PIII/500 and just 2 sec. slower than a
dual-PIII/500 machine! (see
http://www.haveland.com/cgi-bin/getpovb.pl?search=feb-2000) Those of you
with Linux and a G4 should really try this benchmark.

If you want the RPM, here's where I got mine from (just don't use a browser,
use an FTP app. Netscape thinks it's a real player plugin.)
