Yellow Dog Linux Bugfix Announcement
------------------------------------
Package: proftpd
Issue Date: June 23, 2001
Priority: low
Advisory ID: YDU-20010623-1
1. Topic:
The proftpd server that shipped with YDL 2.0
was slightly misconfigured.
2. Problem:
Yellow Dog Linux uses the "logrotate" software to
keep system logs from growing too large as well as
archived. Proftpd's logrotate configuration entry
(for /var/log/xferlog) was setup such that when
proftpd wasn't activated, the system would still
try to rotate the xferlog. This causes the root
("Super User") account to receive frequent automated
emails about log rotation failures.
The updated packages correct this problem.
3. Solution:
a) Updating via yup...
We suggest that you use the Yellow Dog Update Program (yup)
to keep your system up-to-date. The following command(s) will
automatically retrieve and install the fixed version of
this update onto your system:
yup update proftpd
b) Updating manually...
The update can also be retrieved manually from our ftp site
below along with the rpm command that should be used to install
the update. (Please use a mirror site)
ftp://ftp.terraplex.com/pub/yellowdog/updates/yellowdog-2.0/ppc/RPMS/
rpm -Fvh proftpd-1.2.0rc2-2c.ppc.rpm
4. Verification
