Sounds to me like you /etc/molrc isn't set up right.

your first blkdev should point to your bootable Mac OS partition,
read-write. On mine it says

blkdev: /dev/hda5 -rw
blkdev: /dev/hda6 -rw

/dev/hda5 is the partition that boots Mac OS and /dev/hda6 is my
other Mac partition.

They need to be in the order that you want mol to look for a system folder.
I suspect that in your case, with a bootable cdrom in the drive,

blkdev: /dev/cdrom -cd

was the only bootable partition it found. Since that entry is usually
the last, its a pretty good indication that your /etc/molrc does not
have the proper entries for your bootable mac os partition.

I have beige G3 running OS 8.6 under mol
