Running MacOS and OS X apps on top of Linux. Same reason you'd want to run
MacOS on top of Linux.

My coworker said the same thing. Linux != BSD. OS X is build on top of a
BSD UNIX kernel, running on top of a Mach microkernel. It's of totally
different heritage than Linux, and it's got some (very different) command
line utilities. I still have a hard time at the OS X command prompt
because so many of the BSD tools are different from what's on Linux, and
I've really been brought up on Linux.

Also, you have issues of kernel interfaces and binary compatibility. It's
not as simple as you seem to believe it is.

As I noted above, no.
