if you want to know what linux sees for the processor cat /proc/cpuinfo
I have a 7500 with a newertech g3 card (hmmm maybe it wasn't newertech):

[0][eric@eeyore /proc]> cat cpuinfo
processor : 0
cpu : 750
temperature : 0 C
clock : 195MHz
revision : 130.2
bogomips : 599.65
zero pages : total: 0 (0Kb) current: 0 (0Kb) hits: 0/0 (0%)
machine : Power Macintosh
motherboard : AAPL,7500 MacRISC
memory : 64MB
l2cr override : 0xa9100000
pmac-generation : OldWorld

It identifies it as being a g3 (only a 195 g3, but a g3 nonetheless)

Eric
