Dave,

1) Are you running as root when you type "startmol"?

2) Did you copy the new-world rom file from your system folder,
run strip_nwrom on it, and install it in the right place?

3) Did you make sure the partition you want to run MOL on is
_unmounted_ under linux when you started MOL?
