Unmapped RAM-write-access

Hello all,

I'm brand new to this list, but I have searched the archives for mention of my problem.

The problem is that when I start MOL I get an error "Unmapped RAM-write-access" followed by a memory address, which increments as long as I'll let it. I have to ^c^c to get out. A black window for the MOL display comes up but nothing more. The post from M
arch 2000 that dealt with this suggested using a ROM image that's newer than Mac OS 8.6. I am using a 9.0 image, with the newest version of MOL, on a pretty fresh install of LinuxPPC 2000. I'm running startmol as root.

My system: Powerbook G3 (Wallstreet), 160mb physical RAM, virtual memory is off, sound is turned down and muted. The system has two hard drives: hda has a single HSF+ partition, while hde in the left expansion bay contains my linuxppc system and a HFS par
tition (hde8) with a bootable 8.5.1. This is the partition MOL is trying to boot from.

One thing that's curious is that I'm not 100% sure the sound is turned off. I booted into Mac OS, turned the volume down, and muted it with the mute button above the PowerBook's keyboard. When I rebooted after that, the startup chime did not play so I ass
umed the system really was muted. However, when I'm in Linux the keyboard bell is audible. I don't know whether this is acceptabel to MOL, or how to mute the sound in Linux.

Below this post is the output I get from startmol.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Jason
