No, it works.

Linux (and so MOL) can access the HFS+ partition and MacOS own HFS+
implementation will work. Linux can't mount it because it lacks an HFS+
filesystem, but MacOS in MOL can.

I usually have an HFS "standard" scratch partition that I can mount in
both sides (well, not simultaneously). You can also "mount" in MacOS a
local Linux netatalk disk.
