This is the exact same problem I was having - I also have a WallStreet
PowerBook with a 2.2.17 kernel. My first problem was that I had Macsbug
installed - this was causing the freeze. When I removed it I got a
System Error on startup about "file system map inconsistent". This
problem was fixed by downloading the latest MacOS ROM file (I believe
it's version 3.8). This fixed the startup error, and MOL now works fine...
