I don't think this can work. Linux is sending packets to the ethernet
device, and it never gets to MOL - the ethernet device doesn't receive
the packets it's sending. You are probably better off using the tun
device. You'll have to make sure you have it in the kernel or the module
loaded. What I don't understand is you say it's a standalone mac, but you
do configure a nameserver in MacOS (You should be able to ping MacOS from
a computer connected to the ethernet port). More information about how to
set up the tun is in the docs and in previous messages on this mailing
list.
