I guess there are two issues.

        1. Are the MOL kernel drivers SMP safe?

        2. As far as the user space part of MOL is concerned, would
            it be sufficient to lock it down on one processor? Is
            there a system call for SMP that can accomplish that?

Like Andrew, I would be happy just to have MOL be safe to use on an
SMP kernel (I'm running 2.4.0 final). I could also possibly assist
if given some guidance. What documentation is there on SMP kernel
issues, or other SMP issues in general?
