Keycaps crashes mol

Today I tried starting up mol in console mode on my Pismo, which runs the
halloween update, kde 2.1, kernel 2.4.0, new input layer, linux-keycodes,
and devfs. Mol is 0.9.54.

It did not actually switch to console mode, but brought up a full screen X
window. I still cannot use my command key in mol, so I had the bright idea
that I should try Key Caps to see what key the command key was being
translated to. Mol crashed very hard. I killed it by clicking the X icon
in the upper right corner of the window to close and kill the window. But
then I had the dumb idea of restarting mol. It got through the disk first
aid check, but when I clicked "Done", mol crashed and it even crashed linux.
I managed to get down to a linux console, and tried "telinit 6" but
eventually I had to force restart with command-control-power.

I would very much appreciate suggestions on how to get my command key back.
The boot message for linux identifies my keyboard as "c3". Should I enter
this in molrc as c3 or 195?

BTW before the crash, networking was fine and I managed to get mail with
Entourage.
