MOL 9.65-1 Freeze

I have a Beige G3, 333MHz Mac on OS 9.1 with Kernel 2.4.19-ben and MOL
0.9.65-1.   MOL boots up fine and gets to the point where everything is
loaded.  At that point the desktop appears with the clock frozen and no
icons on the desktop.  The cursor arrow moves with the mouse.   If I click
on the x corner MOL terminates gracefully.
