The short answer is that SuSE use a 3 argument form
of expand_stack, see

<URL:
http://rpmfind.creatis.insa-lyon.fr/linux/RPM/suse/7.0/update/ppc/emu1/mol-0.9.50-0.ppc.html >.

     * Wed Feb 23 2000 - uli@suse.de
       - souped up fb.modes parser so it won't throw up
         when parsing the fb.modes file from recent fbset
         packages
       - bash script "molpatching" now uses "wc" instead
         of "stat" which doesn't exist on SuSE Linux
       - mmu.c: changed expand_stack() call to new format
         (3 args)

Is there any other information about the "new format"?

I find it really hard to believe that nobody using SuSE
PPC has tried to compile this program since February
two years ago. Is there a trick to getting to it to
work?

Do I need to use also a Ben series kernel if I want
my own MOL?

Ben.
