Newbie: MOL on G3 Lombard

I am planning using MAC OS 9.2.2 and YDL 3.0 on my G3 Lombard with a 
40GB hard drive. Will all of my regular OS 9.2.2 programs and hardware 
work in this configuration? What is the best way to configure my hard 
drive? Some advise separate partitions for MAC OS and YDL 3.0 with a 
shared partition and some say run it all together on the drive and just 
use MOL. I am real new at Linux and know next to nothing about it.
