The read (or write) operation fails. If you check your syslog,
I bet you will see ide/DMA problems or a bad harddisk. This is not
a MOL problem but rather a hardware (or possibly a kernel) 
problem.

Whenever a disk related problem like this occur, MOL will terminate
all further disk activity (this is intentional).
