MOL Networking Timing Out?

It seems that in the latest version of MOL, networking shuts down if 
there is nothing active going on, and then resumes when something is 
needed.  Am I correct in this?  If so, this is a problem with messenger 
programs and networking programs such as Limewire where it is necessary 
to have a passive ethernet connection.  In my terminal on hte Linux 
side, I see the ethernet toggling off and on as it's used and timed 
out.  This didn't happen until I last upgraded.
