Networking

I was searching through the archives and found a great piece of help about getting the networking set up. I did everything in that article (http://maconlinux.org/lists/mol-general/August01/0056.html), except for the AppleTalk, but it still does not work properly. I have a connection according to OS X 10.3, but I am receiving no data. I am transmitting, but not receiving. Is there something that I did wrong? I am running 10.3 and Gentoo Linux. Everything else works great by the way! Thanks for making this.
