Ok. So it is pretty much confirmed. There is a bug where Mom (the UI)
doesn't detect a cd/dvd if the drive is not capable of recording. This
is probably because I am using the DRDevice
(http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Carbon/Reference/
discrecording/CocoaDoc/DRDevice/Classes/DRDevice/index.html) API. It
is from the DiskRecording framework, so I should have known -- but it
is very convenient to use :-)

Does any one know what the proper API is to use? What I need is
something that can enumerate all cd/dvd devices and if there is a disc
in the drive I should be able to get the bsd device name for the drive.
If I find the right api then I can probably post a fixed version
tomorrow evening or so.

Thanks in advance.
