Boot OS 9 from a file?

I've been trying to get OS 9 installed to a file/block device.  I 
initialized the file with 'dd' (~/OS9.img) and added it to my molrc 
file with the '-force' option.  At boot (from CD) the OS detects an 
uninitialized drive and wants to initialize it.  So I let it.

Then it just sits there.  I left it going for about 20 minutes, but 
it's only a 7GB file!

Should I just wait?  Or am I doing something wrong?
