[powerstation-owners] Testing and OF question ...

For getting into the OF I used an old serial terminal at the RJ45 port.
With this setup it is not tricky to find the right moment for pressing
"s" (there's plenty of time). You should be able to use another machine
with 'minicom' or similar for that purpose.
I booted from cd with "boot cdrom" or "boot cdrom:0,/boot/image" (with
the right path to your image of course) at the SLOF prompt. This worked
fine for me with the gentoo installation cd. However, the kernels on the
gentoo cd won't boot. There is a custom powerstation gentoo install cd
with a working kernel that can be downloaded from [1] (thanks to ranger).
'cdrom' is the typical alias in the OF for the cdrom drive. Note that
the typical 'hd' alias does not correspond to the hard disk drive in
this version of SLOF. (This screwed up my own yaboot install).
The SLOF source code can be downloaded (saying "including
documentation") from IBM at [2]. However, there seems to be not very
much useful documentation in there. And it's only version 1.7.0-1. The
PowerStation uses version 1.7.0-3. I don't know who released this
version but the source should be made available (by TSS?) due to its
"open nature".
Greetings,
Stefan
