Dailup Problem

I recently installed YDL 2.2 on my iMac along woth the existing MacOS 8.6.
Install went somewhat ok.  I used Norton and FWB to do a nondestructive
partion of my single hard drive.  I can still connect to my ISP from MacOS.
When I try do use the same configuration on linux I get a bad password
message when logining on.  The usernames and passwords are identical on both
OS's.  Anybody have any idea what i'm doing wrong in linux.
