Enabling OSS in YDL 2.2

Apologies if this has been asked in a previous thread. I took a peek, 
but found no info.

I installed YDL 2.2 yesterday, with KDE 3. It appears that their is no 
OSS audio driver. Bear with me folks, I no little about the Linux sound 
subsystem (arts?, oss? dsp?, Heh?) but from all accounts this OSS widget 
is the way to go (especially for DVD playback, which is what I'm 
shooting for).  Is this possibly something I can enable by recompiling 
the kernel?
