Forcing Ethernet speed on the iMac Rev B

Thanks Christopher.

I went through the BMAC driver code and as a matter of
fact there is no hint of it allowing to change
settings of the chip.

Of few properties of the SunGEM you highlight ethtool
support looks particularly promising, but also
fallback to fixed speeds if autonegotiation fails. My
question is: if the SunGEM replaces the GMAC, which, I
guess, must be a driver for a gigabit card, it might
use features of a newer chip and not be compatible
with the older 10/100 card.

Instead of recompiling the Kernel, I would like to
load it as a module and test it on my iMac card. Is it
possible to force the use of a loaded driver different
from the kernel resident BMAC driver at boot time?

Aurel
