Help with Networking/DNS

I'm running YDL 2.2 on a rev. A iMac. I'm really pleased with the
stability and performance.

I'm trying to network the machine into my home network. I
originally had set it up to get a DHCP IP from my Linksys router,
but needed to change to a static ip because I have to forward port
80 from the router in order to be able to serve a web page from the
machine.

I managed to fumble through the setup and got things working, but
here's my problem: the iMac occasionally "loses" it's connection.
For instance, it will say "could not resolve" when I am browsing
the web, and when I try to ping I get "host unreachable". A restart
of the machine resolves the issue temporarily, but after an
unspecifiable time it gets "lost" again.

Btw, I couldn't find any GUI in YDL for this set up, so I did it
strictly by editing files like /etc/systemconfig/network.

If it helps, I use a cable modem, a Linksys router, and I don't
"own" my DNS. (I do have a domain name that I own.) I set things up
just using the DNS addresses from my ISP, and the router's IP is
set as the gateway per the router instructions. I'm guessing my
problem has something to do with the way DNS is setup on the
machine (or isn't set up.)

I've totally new to this, and would appreciate any help. I'll
provide any logs or files you all need to step me through what I've
done incorrectly. Thanks.
