Setting up a mail server

Hi folks.

I'm having trouble setting up incoming/outgoing mail on my YDL 2.2 
machine. Here's what I'm trying to do:

I have a domain that I'm pointing to my machine via a DDNS service 
(tzo). I'm running a web site on this domain/machine, and I need 
corresponding email addresses.

Does anyone have any insight on how to set up smtp/pop3? I'm trying to 
use qmail, but nothing seems to work, especially retrieving mail. The 
info that I've found is VERY difficult to follow.

Any help is as always greatly appreciated.
