TIP: hdparm to speed up disk access

Hey folks, I recently remembered this tip, and everyone here may very 
well know of it, but in case you don't, go to this URL:

It's an O'reilly article on using the hdparm utility to speed up disk 
access in linux. Of course, maybe this only works on intel, but I don't 
think so. The only system I have to test this on is a Powerbook 2400, 
which can't tell me much about whether this works, and can benefit very 
little, if at all,  from this tweaking.

Let me know if this is helpful, utterly unneccessary, or useless.
