Trackpad regions in YDL

Someone told me that YDL was capable of setting aside regions of laptop 
trackpads to act like scroll areas or other buttons.  Can anyone 
confirm that this is the case?

I'm trying to find sample driver sources that put apple trackpads into 
absolute positioning mode.
