iBook fan

I am not sure the question is "stupid". I guess that power 
management can be influenced by the O/S. I have noticed that the 
HD in my toilet seat iBook never spins down, even after longish 
periods of incativity, since I installed YDL2.2, which it did when I 
was "using" Mac OS 9.

Perhaps you could try resetting the PRAM; all sorts of odd things 
depend on PRAM. Read up on the procedure and its catches first, 
though...
