You're probably right.  I was having a lot of different problems
with doing the install on the XServe and may have blurred some of
them together.  Now that you mention it, that particular problem
with the front panel key lock locking out the keyboard and mouse
may have been only when I initially tries using OS X on the server
before actually starting the YDL 2.3 install (using the special
XServe ISO image).
