Installing/Booting USB Drive, any possibilities?

>From the YDL webpage and from my tests, I understand that it is not
currently possible to install YDL on an USB-Drive. I have a 6 Gb USB
drive for my powerbook G3, and no place on my internal drive for a linux
partition(s).

Is there any possibility to install it on an USB drive, by updating the
kernel, including drivers, etc? Will there be probable that YDL includes
support from booting from USB drives in the future?
