Powermacs with G3/4-processor-upgrade will run YDL? Or not?

Hi,

I plan to G3-upgrade an aging PPC7500 (which stubbornly refuses to die
like my PPC6100). Unfortunately there isn't much information on that
subject, I usually read statements like "it might or it might not work".
Therefore I would like to elicit more info on upgraded machines.

Here is a kind of summary of upgrade-types I know, covering G3-upgrades
for very old Nubus-based-machines and for machines whose CPU sits on a
Ziff-Carrier, omitting upgrades for Powerbooks. Maybe someone can add
stuff to it, I put my experience under 1). Would be a nice thing to
finally put it to the linuxppc-faqomatic.

1) processor upgrades for the PDS-Slot found in Nubus-PPCs
6100/7100/8100:

I have been using a G3/210MHz "MaxPowr" Newertech-PDS-upgrade in a
Nubus-Pmac (PPC6100) for a while:

Newertech MacPowrPDS:
--------------------
Booting with current nubus-pmac-kernels (2.4.20) fails for obscure
reasons now and then, but when everything is up it works like a charm
(much faster than a PPC601/60 MHz).

Sonnet Crescendo PDS:
---------------------
Sonnet extension's is said to conflict with BootX or MkLinux Booter
(<--that booter is still useful for Nubus-machines), and so it did on a
PPC 7100 I used a few months ago...:-((

[Note: Booting with the PPC601 always works on those machines!]

2) processor upgrades that fits into the PCI-Slot for PCI-based machines
which don't have their CPU on a daughtercard (PPC 7200/8200): ?

??

3) processor upgrades made for the L2-Slot in Macs/Clones with a
Tanzania-board: ?

??

4) processor upgrades that replace the CPU-daughtercard in 7500-9500
(9600/8600 may have an inline-cache and usually require special
upgrades, I was told ... ?) and

??

5) finally upgrades for Macs with a zif-carrier (afaik G3-beige and
newer) or for older PCI-Macs with a CPU-daughterboard upgraded with a
zif carrier card

??
