recompiled the kernel, ensuring that support for pcmcia serial devices
is enabled. this created and installed serial_cs.o, but i'm getting
"unresolved symbol" errors, specifically:

serial_cs.o:unresolved symbol unregister_serial_Rce8a3e65
serial_cs.o:unresolved symbol register_serial_Ra18dc2b1

thanks for advice so far, but any more suggestions on fixing the
unresolved symbol errors?
