Holding down the option key at boot should give you a purple screen with disk icons, at least it does for me on. I've never tried booting off anything external. But when I've had to use this option I've noticed that my external SCSI CD burner gets checked for bootable media too. This is rather round about but it may get you into OS X until you can find the proper OF or yaboot.conf line. r.May
