libGL crashing

So by the lack of responses I'm going to guess that this hasn't been an
issue for others. It seems that the libGL crashes only with DRI
enabled. I recompiled my kernel (2.4.19-4a, using the source from the
YDL 2.3 install) without AGP and DRI drivers and gave things a try
and nothing froze. Yay! Though this is a catch-22 since without DRI
video is slow. And with DRI only, acceleration doesn't seem to go
anywhere.

Could this be a simple configuration issue? This doesn't really make
sense to me but I'm running out of ideas. Why would one OR the other
work but not both?

thanks,
