YDL 2.4 (ATI Moility Radeon support... I hope!)

Earlier this month I installed YDL 2.2 with the pre-compiled benh kernel
(2.4.19-pre10-ben0) on my new iBook2 (600 MHz, ATI Mobility Radeon). I
had many problems initially, especially with the video, however I was
very happy to find most of the problems seemed to clear up when I
installed the benh kernel.

Just in the last few days, I thought I would try Debian for PPC. After
being frustrated to get it installed, I though I would go back and put
YDL 2.2 with the benh kernel in it again. I followed what I beleive was
the same procedure as before, but I am having many difficulties now.
The video is not working as well as it was. For example, when I shut
down Gnome, and the video returns to the command line it is so dark I
can not see what I am doing. I must (blindly) logout and shutdown. On
reboot the command line is fine until I start up Gnome and exit again.
The sleep mode appears to work but not every time. One time the screen
would never go to sleep. The screen dimming buttons, which worked
previously do not work now, brightness just stays the same and it shows
"0" in the window.

Why should I be having all these problems? I have installed both YDL
2.2 and the benh kernel several times in the past couple of days, but it
is not running as well as it initially was earlier this month. Is there
any possibility that the benh kernel has been modified, but continues to
be under the same identification?

Boy, I sure hope YDL 2.4 will support the ATI Mobility Radeon!
