Hmm, that's different in my case:

kernel: PowerMac Z8530 serial driver version 2.0
kernel: tty00 at 0xe331f020 (irq = 22) is a Z8530 ESCC
kernel: tty01 at 0xe3326000 (irq = 23) is a Z8530 ESCC

For one thing, ttyS* misteriously became tty0*. I certainly hope it's
a typo in the log messages. In any case, it also looks like nothing is
detected on either port.

But I am out of time and I will thus stop thinking about this for now.
Should I start with this again and find anything relevant I will of
course post the results.
