mounting devices with YDL 2.2

   I have just reinstalled YDL2.2 on a year-old powerbook G4. I was hoping
that several things would work by default. They did not.

I have an Iomega predator CD-RW (firewire), a bullet drive (pcmcia) disk
and an external usb disk. All of these work with mac OS 9. I was hoping that
they would work (be mountable) with YDL2.2.

I had the most hope for the CD-RW, given the howto's that I
found. cdrecord -scanbus says no scsi devices found. Following the YD
Solutions on firewire disks, I loaded the ohci1394, ohci1294 and sbp2
drivers. pdisk does not find the cd.

The pcmcia disk was a hopeful shot in the dark. I was not sure what
device this would appear as.

I will worry later about the usb disk.

Is the problem here with the file system type on these devices? I suspect
not since I never get to the point of being able to use the mount command as
I never find the device name for these devices.

Finally, I have a spare partition on my hard disk which I wanted to set
up as hfs to transfer stuff between macos and linux. mkfs in YDL does not
have the option of creating an hfs file system. Which macos software should
I use to create this file system? Is there a way in YDL to set up this
partition?

The kernel is 2.4.18-0.8a. I looked at the kernel config and it looks like
firewire and pcmcia are allowed. They may not be active.

I looked through the YDL page for HowTo's but did not find anything
besides the doc on firewire disks. I did not go through the archive messages
for this group. I have been out of touch for the last two months (no net
access). I apologize in advance if these issues have already been discussed
and solved.
