imap on yellowdoglinux 2.1

UW IMAP does look in the home directory and is compatible with the
structure of mail directories used by the standard YDL install. This makes
it the simplest option if you want to try IMAP. You should be able to
define the mail directory as the base of the directory search made by your
IMAP client - hence eliminating some of the directory listing. I did this
before moving to Cyrus IMAP but unfortunately cannot remember how - sorry.
Cyrus IMAP keeps user mail in a different way and not in the home directory.

You can use POP3 and IMAP together - you just need to remember to make sure
that your POP3 client does not delete mail after retrieving it - or IMAP
will be left with nothing to read!
