Informative error messages (was "RE: RPM's or source? (was: Can I upgrade with RPMs?)")

Seems that no matter what OS you run (MacOS, Windoze, Linux), providing
informative error messages for users/tech support is *NOT* something that
most developers and programming book authors consider.

Just my two-cents.....

Actually, everything was spelled correctly. I was missing the build package
for rpm :-D

Odd that it gave me that error msg, rather than saying 'Unknown Function' or
something to that effect.
