2.1 install problems on 8500

Found out that my power mac 8500 isn't supported by OSX...
So I downloaded the fuji install image... followed all the
directions pretty darn accurately but I am running into some
install problems...
First things first...
  Does YDL 2.1 support my system?
    powermac 8500 
    80mb ram
    MacOS 8.1
    original 1gb hard drive, i gave it two partitions
     the bare minimum for os8.1 (like 75mb or so) and
     the rest (955mb) for linux.
 I was thinking that mabey I need more than 1GB...
cause of the install menu that says
 "you need following partitions"
10mb boot, 128mb swap, 1+GB linux...
