Formatting linux partition

Hello ya'll, is there any way to get a formerly linux partition reformatted
as HFS?

I've tried tricking the installer into formatting the 1.5 GB partition as a
boot-loader partition but it won't let me.

Am I going to have to reformat the entire drive to recover that 1.5 GB? (I
would love to install my 4 GB SCSI as an image storage disk but I'm just too
busy to figure out what cables I need for my B&W G3)).
