hiya. this is a general question about macintosh but this is the best place i can ask it!

so okay i have a mac powerbook with a g3 333 processor. i only bought it because the hardware features battery life and such were better than the same pc laptop. oh yeah it has 64mb of memory. so yeah i have this laptop and i don't know much about macs. so i'm comparing it to an old pc i have which has an oldie amd k62 300 proc in it and it has 128mb of memory. the mac laptop runs yellow dog linux v2.2 and the pc runs red hat 7. so i'm seeing that the pc is smoking the laptop for some reason!?! i don't have any hard data to say that x is faster than y but trust me it is. menus on kde seem to fly on the pc compared to the mac.

yes one has more memory but i don't think 64mb will make *that* much difference! one is a 300mhz and the other is a 333mhz. so shouldn't the mac be faster? or doesn't it work liek that?

so what is a g3 333 comparable to in the pc world? i would like to know if there is a way to optimize yellow dog linux so it runs faster than it runs now. it's just too slow

ideas??
