GUI Editor?

I was able to install nedit - looks pretty good.

However, I would really like to try quanta, but
the rpm fails when I try to install it because of
multiple dependencies.  Anyone using quanta?

Also, can anyone tell me where Kate is located?
Would have thought it was installed with YDL,
but I'm using a fairly old distro (2.0)  because of
some hardware issues, so maybe not.

BTW, I do know know the basics of vi, but
I'm certainly no guru.  I just wanted a nice
editor I can use in KDE.
