Radeon 7000

I'm about to install YDL2.3 on a G4-upgraded 8600 that has a Radeon 
7000 PCI card. I see a reference to G4s with Radeon 7000s that the 
video card needs to be in the first PCI slot. Is this also true for 
PCI PowerMacs? If so, is the "first" slot the one closest to the top 
of the case (when it's standing vertical)?
