Problem w. Vanilla Beige G3

Hi

I have a plain vanilla Beige G3 w. 128 Megs, Onboard ATI Rage w. 6 megs,
Zip.
1 Quantum 6.5 Gig IDE HDD and 1 IBM 9.1 Gig SCSI disk.
No additional PCI cards

If i install YDL 2.3 and use boot-x, the boot process freezes after writting
"Configuring kernel ....  [OK]

i have installed to both IDE and SCSI and get the same results..

if i write "init=/bin/sh" as a parameter, the kernel boots fine and the
filesystems are there..


What should i do ?
