vmlinux and bzImage

This thread may actually belong to the yellowdog-newbies mailing list, an=
d I=20
apologize in advance if this comes off as a stupid question or if this is=
=20
general knowledge to most.

I'm in the process of compiling a new kernel and I've gotten as far as us=
ing=20
xconfig to configure the kernel exactly how I want it and running 'make d=
ep'=20
to make dependencies. Now this is where I'm getting confused.=20

I haven't been able to find adequate documentation on compiling a kernel =
in=20
yellow dog (I read the how-to on ydl website, but it's lacking), but I=20
assumed it was pretty similar to doing it with any other x86 linux=20
distribution. I guess I was wrong. =20

My next step in the kernel compilation was to 'make bzImage' and everythi=
ng=20
seemed to work fine (I didn't see any errors). I went ahead and executed=20
'make modules' and 'make modules_install' and I expected to have a nice=20
kernel image ready for me when this completed, but instead I can't find a=
=20
bzImage anywhere on my system.

All I really want to know is if I'm doing this right. Is there some othe=
r=20
kernel image format I should be using or some other process I should be=20
following to do this?

A really detailed and extensive explanation would be greatly appreciated.
