upgrade from 2.1 to 2.3

Sorry.. I'm in the server room fixing a Xserve with corrupted disks.. not
a lot of time to explain in detail.  I did the same list-leave->list
return as well for the same reason.  Things are better now that there's a
newbie list :)  OTOH, saying this has been answered in the archives and
giving a general date range (for lack of a browser to look upp the exact
posts) is a valid response, espically as it was answered better than what
I'm about to type, IMHO.

basically, install apt and any newer version of rpm from the 2.3 cd's and
thn you can use apt to do the upgrade.  There's an apt-cdrom command that
you need to run for each cd in the YDL distro, the syntax escpaes me as 
I've never used a cdrom with apt (debian or YDL :)

once apt is in, either run apt-cdrom (man pages or the previously 
mentioned archive posting will explain this) or manually edit 
/etc/apt/sources.list to point at the 2.3 distro on a fast mirror to you 
(remove any references to 2.1 or 2.2).  

Then 
1: apt-get update
2: apt-get upgrade
3: apt-get dist-upgrade

wash, rinse, repeat steps 2 and 3 above until apt syas you're up to 
date.. you may only have to do it once, but at times it takes second cycle 
to get everything that's been held back becasue of dependancy issues.
