BootX prefs (and prefs for many other classic apps) can be modified with
resedit:

ftp://ftp.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/English-No
rth_American/Macintosh/Utilities/ResEdit_2.1.3.sea.bin

This page (in French, pix are universal)
http://www.ifrance.com/macpower/bootmaj.htm shows how (as an example)
you can use BootX to lock down the "More Kernel Arguments" option using
resedit.

Hope that's enough to lead you in he right direction. Yaboot only works
with NewWorld machines, OldWorld boxes can't boot Linux without a MacOS
helper app (bootx) to load a kernel to RAM, dump MacOS, and hand off
control to the kernel.

Subject: Set boot prefs?

Where do I find the pref or file that sets the default boot OS and
time delay before the default boots, for Boot X?
