KDE and /dev/dsp

I've recently installed 2.3 on a Powerbook Wallstreet. It's working
fine with 1 minor irritation. When I start KDE 9 times out of
10 I get a message about unable to open /dev/dsp. The file exists,
although on my SuSE 8.1 box it's actually a link to /dev/dsp0.

I noticed the permissions on /dev/dsp are crw------- owned by
me. Is that correct?

Also, are there any rumors/rumblings etc, about the next release
of YDL? Rough estimate of when? Based on RedHat 8 perhaps? Where's
the best source to apt-get updated packages?

Thanks

Ken
